TRFC Week 3 Recap: Jrmargul Dominates With 222 Points

Week 3 was one of the highest scoring fantasy football weeks in recent memory. A whopping six entries finished the TRFC Week 3 Qualifier with more than 200 points, and jrmargul won with an incredible 222.30 points!

Week 3 Winners

The Week 3 contest had a guaranteed $6,000 prize pool to the top 300 finishers. The contest filled with 660 entries, meaning 45% of entries doubled their money!

Jrmargul took home first place, followed by nvenezia56 in second place, and phidelt370 (who used a lineup we posted to our blog last Saturday, nice!) in third. Next week, we’ll need to see if some other fraternities can land a player in the top trifecta…

As will be the case every week through NFL Week 10, these top three finishers each have won one free entry into our $25,000 Week 11 Final, where they are guaranteed to win a minimum of $500 more. Boom!

Analysis of the Winners

Jrmargual‘s lineup showed incredible consistency throughout, with at least 19.9 points from all of the skill position players. Of course, the entry won as a result of Jamaal Charles’ big performance vs. the Packers on Monday Night Football, but the wideouts and Greg Olsen at tight end all had huge games. The entry had four unique players (Cam Newton, Latavius Murray, Brandon Marshall, Steve Smith).
Nvenezia56 also had a nice contribution on Monday night from Alex Smith, but it was the bargain of the week, Devonta Freeman, that was his biggest contributor. Freeman led all running backs with 39.8 points in his first career NFL start, absolutely thrashing the Cowboys. He also had four unique players (Smith, Demaryius Thomas, Julian Edelman, Stephen Gostkowski).
Phidelt370 used one of David’s tournament stacks from last week, and got an incredible contribution from his Packers on Monday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and James Jones combined for 90.12 points, which was more than the entire rosters of each of the bottom 10 entries in the TRFC Week 3 Qualifier. His unique players included Rodgers, Le’Veon Bell, Cobb, John Brown, Jones, and the Texans defense.
Greg Olsen was the only player owned on all three rosters. It’s pretty crazy that all three rosters managed more than 200 points, yet still only had one player in common.

Looking Toward Week 4

We’ll be awarding three more entries into the $25,000 Week 11 Final of the TeamRankings Football Championship this week.

Like last week, this week’s format is a double up with another $6,000 prize pool. The top 300 entries this week will double their $10 entry, and the top three finishers are guaranteed at least $500 in cash come Week 11, with $3,000 in cash going to the winner.
