The Conference Championship games are set, and both are expected to be close affairs.

Green Bay is favored by 3.5 points over Tampa Bay in the first game on Sunday. Kansas City is currently favored by 3 points over Buffalo in the AFC title game.

Obviously, Patrick Mahomes’ status after leaving the previous playoff game because of concussion concerns will be of prime importance. The current indications are that he is expected to play, but any setbacks over the next few days could change that, and alter who is favored in the game.

We will have our Championship Round analysis article out tomorrow.

Jared Goff will be the starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams in their Divisional matchup with Green Bay on Saturday, the team announced. John Wolford, who suffered a neck injury early in the Wild Card game, will be inactive, and Blake Bortles will be the backup for the game.

Goff did not start the last game after having thumb surgery less than two weeks earlier, and was limited throwing, completing just under half his passes. He said in comments yesterday that the thumb was feeling better, though his status is still a risk. The line has not moved even after the news, as it was likely anticipated that Goff would be the starter.

In the other Saturday game, keep an eye on the weather reports up until your time for submitting picks, if you are in a pool that also makes spread picks on the over/under. Right now, the Buffalo weather for Saturday night looks to be right on the cusp of troublesome. Temperatures will be near freezing, and there is the potential for precipitation. More importantly, for scoring, wind could be a factor. The current forecast is for winds around 13 mph during the day increasing to 15-25 mph by night, but exactly when those higher winds settle in could be important for this game and the passing attacks.

There have been only a handful of high wind games in the playoffs in the last 20 years, but in the 11 games that had wind of 15 mph or more since 2000 (via a search of the Pro Football Reference Play Index), 9 of the 11 went Under the number.
