Three more conference tournaments begin today, headlined by the West Coast Conference. The Colonial (CAA) and Southern Conference also begin their competitions today.
Below you will find our 2015 conference tournament projections for all three tournaments. All projections were generated before the first games tipped.
Our 2015 WCC bracket projection sees Gonzaga as the clear favorite, as expected. Their odds of winning the conference tournament are estimated as over 68%.
Our Gonzaga bracketology projection shows that with their loss to BYU last Saturday, the Zags’ chances of earning a #1 seed are now infinitesimal, but they can expect a #2 seed if they win out.
The conference is currently expected to have both Gonzaga and BYU in the big dance. At this point, St. Mary’s is unlikely to make the NCAA tournament without winning the conference tournament.
However, our BYU bracketology projection shows that BYU would still have a 51% chance to make the field with an at-large bid even if they lost to St. Mary’s in the semifinals.
Our 2015 CAA bracket projection forecasts one of the tightest conference tournaments this year. There are three co-favorites in William & Mary, Northeastern, and Hofstra, with Hofstra ever so slightly ahead based on the strength of their predictive rating.
If Hofstra can win the tournament as a 5 seed, our Hofstra bracketology projection sees them most likely landing a 15 seed in the 2015 NCAA tournament.
If William & Mary or Northeastern win, they are most likely to be a 13 seed.
Our 2015 Southern Conference bracket projection predicts top seed Wofford as the favorite. Our projections show they have a 41% chance to win the Southern tournament, nearly double that of 2 seed Chattanooga.
Our Wofford bracketology projection expects that they will most likely be a 12 seed in the NCAA tourney if they take home the title.
